Disadvantaged youth across Sydney were given a much needed boost last Friday (3 May 2013) when Cooley Auctions presented a $45,000 cheque to Father Chris Riley’s Youth Off The Streets (YOTS) at the 2013 Cooley Golf Classic supported by over 100 real estate professionals and local businesses across Sydney.
Developed and run by Cooley Auctions, the golf classic is an annual fundraising event that’s now in its sixth year – raising a total of $215,000 for the YOTS foundation. Money raised will provide a $12,000 scholarship providing critical financial support to further the education of a talented student from disadvantaged circumstances. The remaining $33,000 will go towards helping the foundation support young people who are chronically homeless, drug dependent and recovering from abuse.
Cooley Auctions Director Damien Cooley was proud to announce such an outstanding donation. “This year our goal was to reach $200,000 collectively over the six golf classics and thanks to the overwhelming support from real estate agents and local businesses in sponsoring holes, donating auction items and participating in the 29 live charity auctions held on the day, we achieved this.
“Our fundraising event has provided 5 scholarships over the years, and through my experience in participating in the charity’s Streetwalk program and sitting on the Development Committee I’ve seen the life-changing effects of their important work,” said Mr Cooley.
The 2013 Cooley Golf Classic included an 18-hole game of golf at Boonie Doon Golf Club with guests arriving at 7.00am for breakfast and a golf clinic. The game was followed by lunch, charity auctions and a major raffle.
