Leading Sydney Auctioneer Damien Cooley proves he is one of Australasia's finest

Sydney auctioneering identity Damien Cooley was a finalist at this year's Australasian Real Estate Institute's Auctioneering Championship, hosted in Tasmania by the REIT.

Two competitors from each state and two from New Zealand competed in the heats on Tuesday September 1, with the top four competitors from these heats going into the finals the following afternoon.

The competing auctioneers had to choose one out of two properties presented to them and conduct a mock auction. (read more)

Spring Listings hit the market

It is amazing to think that we are talking about Spring selling already. In fact there are only 10 more weeks left for auction bookings in 2009. Stock levels are dramatically increasing and auction clearance rates are the best they have been for quite some time.

The last week of September is shaping up to be the biggest we have ever seen in our business. We estimate to have more than 100 properties go to auction in this week. Super Saturday will take place on Saturday 26th September with Cooley Auctions having 55 auctions scheduled for the day. "It's the biggest Saturday we have ever had in our business and I am confident the market is going to respond well to the increased stock levels. Our market has been underperforming for some time now and with interest rates as low as they are and vacancy rates around 1%, our market can only go one way, up. Our auction results have been nothing short of outstanding and they will continue to grow through October, November and December!" says Damien Cooley. (read more)
