Record Sale for 2009
Last Thursday, in what was one of Sydney's highest auction results, a Darling Point property at 71 Yarranabe Road, formerly owned by Lend Lease chief Stuart Horney, was sold for $12.6 million through Raine & Horne Double Bay agents Lillian and Andy Kroonenberg.
Cooley Auctions Director, Damien Cooley, had the pleasure of auctioning the home. "It was a great thrill to sell a home of its quality under the hammer. With multiple bidders and plenty of on lookers it was a brilliant sale. Full credit is deserved to the agency for the marketing. The view was breathtaking and it is certainly an auction that I will remember for a very long time."
Apartment and Investment Sales
What a start to the year for residential apartments and first home buyer properties. Now is the time to be capitalising on these sales and auctioning them. We are running auctions with up to 15 to 20 registrations in some instances. Therefore results have been exceptional. Some agents have shifted their thoughts from auction to listing and selling this stock in a shorter time frame by way of private treaty. It is important to not lose sight of the fact that the auction creates a competitive environment and it gives the seller an opportunity to achieve a premium. Remember that you can also run an auction campaign over 14 or 21 days. It doesn't always have to be 28 days, so the next listing you pitch on, sell the features and benefits of the auction to the seller.
